Nova Scotia — Bar Admission 2026


The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society organizes Bar Admission ceremonies throughout the year. The largest Ceremony usually occurs in June in Halifax, with other sessions in January and April.

  • January 16, 2026 – Eligibility/Call date

  • April 10, 2026 – Eligibility/Call date

  • Regular June 2026 ceremony details are typically published by the Society.

Candidates must appear before the court and take the prescribed oaths. Traditional legal attire is required (waistcoat, robe, wing‑collar shirt, tabs, dark trousers/skirt and shoes).

Nova Scotia — Law Schools & Candidates

Candidates attending the Call to the Bar in Nova Scotia typically graduate from the following law school:

  • Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law

Internationally trained lawyers may also qualify through the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA).

Students attending the ceremony traditionally wear formal legal attire, including 4 essential items:
